PERANAN GURU SAINS DAN KAKITANGAN MAKMAL SAINS
Semua anggota di bawah organisasi Bidang Sains adalah terlibat secara langsung dalam pengurusan dan pentadbiran makmal dan bilik sains di sekolah. Pengetua dan Guru Besar sekolah bertanggungjawab atas keseluruhan pengurusan makmal dan bilik sains dalam pengendalian program kurikulum dan kokurikulum sains di sekolah dari segi perancangan, pelaksanaan, penyelarasan, penilaian dan pemantauan. Pengetua dan Guru Besar merupakan pemimpin kurikulum yang bertanggungjawab ke atas guru-guru dan kakitangan makmal dan bilik sains dalam aspek profesional dan pengurusan
Penolong Kanan Pentadbiran / Akademik, Penolong Kanan Hal Ehwal Murid, Penolong Kanan Kokurikulum, Penolong Kanan Petang dan Ketua Bidang Sains dan Matematik bertanggungjawab membantu Pengetua dan Guru Besar dalam keseluruhan pengurusan makmal dan bilik sains berkaitan pengendalian program kurikulum dan .kokurikulum sains di sekolah dari segi perancangan, perlaksanaan, penyelarasan, penilaian dan pemantauan. Setiap anggota mestilah mempunyai komitmen dan berkemahiran untuk memastikan Bidang Sains berjalan dengan lancar.

Kenaikan Pangkat Guru 2012

KUCHING 16 Mei – Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak mengumumkan kaedah baru kenaikan pangkat khusus kepada guru dengan mengkategorikan mereka mengikut empat lapisan jawatan iaitu Guru Biasa, Guru Kanan, Guru Wibawa dan Pendeta Guru.
Katanya, empat lapisan jawatan itu akan membolehkan peningkatan ke gred yang lebih tinggi berdasarkan kecemerlangan.
"Melalui konsep Guru Wibawa dan Pendeta Guru ini, laluan kerjaya guru dalam bidang pengajaran dan pembelajaran akan diperluaskan sehingga mencapai ke Gred 54 dalam tempoh perkhidmatan 25 tahun dengan memenuhi tahap kecemerlangan serta syarat-syarat lain yang ditetapkan Lembaga Kenaikan Pangkat Perkhidmatan Pendidikan," katanya dalam rakaman video yang ditayangkan pada sambutan Hari Guru Kebangsaan, di sini hari ini.
Perdana Menteri mengumumkan, semua guru yang menunjukkan kecemerlangan terkemuka mutunya seperti ditetapkan oleh Lembaga Kenaikan Pangkat Perkhidmatan Pendidikan boleh mencapai Gred Khas C dan ke atas sebelum bersara.
Katanya lagi, bagi guru-guru yang tidak dinaikkan pangkat ke Gred Khas, mereka masih berpeluang menikmati pergerakan gaji tahunan.
"Untuk ini, kerajaan bersetuju menambahkan lagi jawatan Gred Khas C bagi laluan pengajaran dan pembelajaran sebanyak 100 peratus dengan menambah sebanyak 72 jawatan berbanding 36 jawatan sedia ada di bawah konsep Guru Wibawa dan Pendeta Guru," katanya.
Najib juga mengumumkan, kerajaan bersetuju menaikkan gred jawatan semua pengetua sekolah menengah Gred DG48 ke Gred DG52 yang melibatkan 1,228 jawatan.
Katanya, semua guru penolong kanan (GPK) pentadbiran, hal ehwal akademik dan kokurikulum sekolah menengah Gred DG44 dinaikkan ke Gred DG48 dan ini melibatkan 6,585 jawatan.
"Seterusnya, semua GPK pentadbiran, hal ehwal akademik dan kokurikulum di sekolah rendah kluster dinaikkan dari Gred DGA32 ke Gred DGA34 yang melibatkan 99 jawatan," katanya. - Utusan

Malaysian Teacher Standard, SGM
Muhyiddin Launches Malaysian Teacher Standard Document
TAWAU, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today launched the Malaysian Teacher Standards (Standard Guru Malaysia or SGM) document as part of continuous efforts to place the nation's education system to be at par with global standards and produce first class human resources among Malaysians.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Education minister, said based on the document all teachers are required to have three valued aspects of practices namely teaching professionalism; knowledge; and high teaching and learning skills.
"These three aspects represent important components of teacher standard that must be achieved by every teacher in our country," he said.
Muhyiddin said only by having all these three important components could teachers reach a high level of competency and therefore discharge their duties effectively.
"I believe that the SGM will be an important reference not just to produce quality teachers but also to improve on policy, planning and development of the national education system," he said.
Muhyiddin also officially opened the Tawau campus of the Malaysian Institute of Teachers Education costing RM87 million.
He said as part of the government's efforts to ensure teacher standards reached the desired target, aspects of training and professional development, needed to given priority.
The deputy prime minister urged all teacher training institutes in the country to continue to strive to have quality teacher training programmes besides always improving infrastructure and infostructure.
He said all educators, made up of teachers, headmasters, principals and managers, as well as teacher training institute administrators, must use the guidelines set out in the SGM document to ensure that the country's education quality was enhanced continuously.
Speaking to reporters later, Muhyiddin said Malaysia wanted be among the best countries for education.
"For that we need a specific direction," he said.
On the problem of lack of infrastructure, which can be an impediment to achieving the objectives of the SGM, Muhyiddin said the government was aware of the problem and was overcoming it in stages and continuously
He admitted that a teacher's achievements could be influenced by the problem of school infrastructure and said the focus on minimising the effect, including in Sabah and Sarawak, would be done under the 10th Malaysia Plan.
He said such effort was not just related to the SGM but also to reduce the gap, in all aspects, between rural and urban schools.
